What is the Political Courage Test?

California Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Unknown Position In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
The top 1% in our country needs to pay their fair share. Getting a free ride for the last 30 years for this group has led to economic depression, middle class reduction and overall unfair distribution of wealth. Clearly, trickle down economics has never improved the lives of the working class. It is a blight on our economy This trend must change. Defense spending must be addressed overall. The defense budget has been used by elected officials as a slush fund to pay back their donors instead of taking care of our troops.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
I believe that dark money must have the light shown on it. Donors to independent expenditures must be reported just as donors to campaigns are. It is time to bring ethics to our political process
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
These programs have failed to improve anything but test scores.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
As an endorsed candidate by the Sierra Club I believe that addressing the environment is critical to the future of both our country and our planet.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Sensible gun safety involves collecting and using data to support our improvements. Safety courses, GVRO legislation across the country, assault weapons ban without a sunset clause, voluntary buy back of assault weapons and closing background check loopholes must be part of the solution. I would not remove guns from gun owners without due process such as the Gun Violence Restraining order process.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
I believe in order to become competitive globally we must move to universal coverage.
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
We need comprehensive immigration reform that includes a path to citizenship for our DACA recipients.
Yes Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
I believe that it should be removed from the schedule 1 drugs, taxed and regulated in order to ensure safety for consumers.
No Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
Unknown Position Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
I believe that diplomacy must come first in all of our international relationships. The gutting of our state department makes us less, not more safe. Military force should only be used as a last resort. Our men and women in uniform deserve this deliberate, measured approach.
Healthcare for all Expanded educational and trade training in my district along with elimination of vouchers from public funds Preservation of our environment because it directly impacts jobs in my district.
